Classroom Core Adds Noise Meter, Stopwatch, Class Timers to Mobile App

Classroom Core has updated its Android and iOS apps to include new tools, including a class Noise Meter, a Stopwatch and several Class Timers.

Noise Meter

The Classroom Core Noise Meter uses the device microphone to measure ambient noise and issue an auditory alert if the noise exceeds a certain level. The meter allows users to adjust the microphone sensitivity and set the noise level that triggers an alert. Teachers can select for several available sounds for the alert, including to options to play a random sound.

Timers

Classroom Core offers a variety of tools to assist teachers and coaches in managing their critical time with students.

Stopwatch: The stopwatch offers basic timing functions, including a lap recording feature.

Countdown: The countdown timer allows the user to set a time and countdown to zero. There are options for a 5-second warning that alerts during the last five seconds of a countdown and a selection of end alerts.

Interval Timer: The interval timer is perfect for breaking down class time into smaller periods. This timer allows the user to set a time and a number of intervals, or times the countdown will repeat. Dividing a 40-minute class into four, 10-minute sections is as easy a starting this timer with 10 minutes and 4 intervals. The timer will alert when each interval changes, and plan and end alert when the total time has elapsed.

Round Timer: The round timer allows users to create sequences that contain a repeating, timed rounds, with a designated break in between. The format is similar to a boxing match, where the fighters compete for 12, three-minute rounds, with a minute break between each round. Users can create their own formats for classroom times, games, high intensity interval training exercises, or other timed activity.

Words are Important in Dealing with Others

Contrary to what the world says- Life is not all about you.

6 words: “You’re right, I made a mistake.”
Others appreciate that you can admit when you are wrong.

5 words: “You did a good job”
Others appreciate that you can recognize and give a compliment.

4 words: “What is your opinion?”
Others appreciate that you value their thoughts.

3 words: “Would you please?”
Others appreciate that you have manners.

2 words: “Thank you”
Others appreciate your appreciation.

1 word: “We”
Includes all, no one is left out.

In a world that has raised a “me generation”. We need to forget ourselves long enough to know and appreciate others. Just as others can learn to know us through the use of important words.

Fears that Stop Students from Succeeding

Students are born with two fears (falling and loud noises), every other fear is learned.

Four areas of fear for a student in the education environment.

Appearance – physical and clothing
Abilities – physical and mental
Parentage – social status
Environment – physical and social

As an educator you can help students build trust and acceptance in each other with a loving relationship
1. Offer kindness and courtesy.
2. Be honest.
3. Be willing to listen.
4. Be open to feedback.
5. Offer a sincere apology when needed. Respect is contagious.

Classroom Core New Opportunity

There have not been many updates lately because our founder and CEO recently got an opportunity to assist local public schools with a state audit. While Classroom Core is dedicated to providing tools built to assist classroom teachers, working on these audits has revealed an opportunity to build a cloud-based administration program that will help the administration of small and medium school districts, with an objective of making these state audits fast an easy.

We hope to have more details soon, and we hope that this new service will serve as a platform that makes our tools more accessible to classroom teachers.

Classroom Core Easy Grader Now Availalbe on iOS and Android

<

The Classroom Core Easy Grader is now available as a mobile app on iOS and Android. This adds another avenue to access these free resources that have been especially-designed for classroom teachers.

The Easy Grader was designed with direct input from classroom teachers. It combines all the features they wanted to help get scores for the worksheets, papers and essays they had to grade. It is built to be simple, easy-to-use, and rich with features.

Some of the features are to meet the grading preferences of different teachers – some want to score based on the number of questions a student got correct while others preferred to score on subtracting from the total based on how many student scored incorrect. Other features allow teachers to align the grader with differing grading scales or give them the option of scoring partial credit.

As always, Classroom Core strives to provide all of its tools ad-supported and free of cost to classroom teachers.

Monday Mailbag: What’s this Blog For Anyway?

What’s this Blog for anyway?

That is a good question. The answer comes in three parts.

1 We need a way to publish updates about the activity on the site and the tools we’re developing. The best way to do that is with a blog or Content Management System that allows us to post those updates and automatically share to our social media channels. This allows us to share important information with our users in the most efficient way possible.

2 Marketing. The blog provides another avenue for individuals to discover our tools and hopefully see the benefits that they offer.

3 To help teachers. The content portion of Classroom Core is still developing, but we hope that eventually it will serve as benefit to teachers, both those that use our tools and those that do not. The technology solutions are going to be prominent because that is our current expertise. That is not the only way that we want to provide value, though, and we hope that this element develops more as Classroom Core grows and matures.
